Why Tampa families choose Call Mabel
Tampa Bay has one of the highest concentrations of seniors aging in place in the United States. Hillsborough County has over 220,000 residents aged 65+. Pinellas County is at 23%. Hernando hits 35%. The Villages, just an hour north, is one of the largest senior communities in the country.
For Tampa Bay families, the daily reality is the same as anywhere else — but the local options matter:
- Tampa General Hospital discharge planners increasingly recommend daily check-in services for patients going home alone
- BayCare' 14 Tampa-area hospitals see thousands of senior discharges per year
- Sun City Center, Kings Point, On Top of the World — Tampa Bay's largest active 55+ communities have residents who benefit from daily wellness calls
- Aging life care managers across Tampa Bay (Aging Life Care Association directory) increasingly partner with us as their daily-check-in layer

About the founder
Dick Pahl founded Call Mabel in Florida. A Citadel-trained electrical engineer with graduate studies in meteorology at Texas A&M, Dick served as a U.S. Air Force Major and an airborne weather reconnaissance officer with the 815th Weather Reconnaissance Squadron — the Hurricane Hunters. Across a career spent founding companies that turn engineering into peace of mind, he built Call Mabel after seeing what too many aging Americans were left with: an empty house, a phone that rarely rings, and a family that wasn't sure how they were doing.
